Introduction

The DPL's commitment to a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

The Dublin Padel League is committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all players, officials, volunteers, and spectators. The health and safety of everyone involved is our top priority.

By participating in the DPL, all participants agree to abide by the safety guidelines outlined in this document.

1.2

This policy outlines the responsibilities and measures that must be adhered to by all participants, including players, captains, team officials, and venue operators. It is designed to mitigate risks and promote a safe playing environment.

02

General Safety

Baseline requirements for all participants and venue operators.

2.1

Health Status

All players must ensure they are physically fit and able to play before participating in any matches. Players should not play if feeling unwell, injured, or suffering from any condition that may impair safe performance. If a player experiences an injury or health issue during a match, they should stop playing immediately and seek medical attention if required.

2.2

Emergency Procedures

Each venue must have an established first aid kit and a clear procedure for emergencies, including access to a defibrillator if available. All players and captains should be familiar with the location of first aid kits, emergency exits, and contact information for local emergency services.

2.3

Accident Reporting

Any accidents or injuries occurring during a DPL match must be reported to venue management and the DPL Committee as soon as possible. The injured party (or their representative) must complete an accident report form and submit it to the DPL Committee within 48 hours of the incident.

03

Player Safety

Individual responsibilities to protect yourself and fellow players.

3.1

Footwear & Equipment

Players must wear appropriate, non-marking padel shoes. Ensure rackets and other equipment are in good condition before each match. Any defective equipment should be replaced immediately.

3.2

Appropriate Attire

Players must wear recognised padel attire, including comfortable sportswear. Clothing that may restrict movement or interfere with performance should be avoided.

3.3

Warm-up & Cool-down

All players should perform a proper warm-up before matches to prevent injuries. A cool-down routine should also be followed after matches to reduce the risk of muscle strain.

3.4

Hydration

Players should ensure they are adequately hydrated before, during, and after matches. Water stations should be available at all match venues, and players are encouraged to bring their own water bottles.

04

Venue Safety

Standards for courts and facilities hosting DPL matches.

4.1

Court Safety

Courts should be maintained in a safe condition, with no loose or damaged flooring, equipment, or netting that may pose a risk to players. Any issues must be reported to venue management immediately. Adequate lighting must be provided for all matches.

4.2

Spectator Safety

Spectators should be kept at a safe distance from courts during matches to prevent injury from errant balls or other hazards. Any spectators behaving in an unsafe or disruptive manner should be asked to move or leave the area.

05

Emergency Situations

Procedures to follow in the event of a serious incident during play.

5.1 First Aid

All match venues should have trained first-aid personnel or a designated first-aid responder available during matches, familiar with basic first-aid procedures and emergency equipment including defibrillators.

5.2 Medical Assistance

In the event of a serious injury, the match should be immediately stopped and the injured player assessed. If necessary, emergency medical services should be contacted and the injured party taken to the nearest hospital.

5.3 Injury Reporting

All injuries, regardless of severity, must be reported to the DPL Committee and documented according to the league's accident reporting procedures. The Committee will review reported incidents to identify any improvements needed.

06

Responsibilities

How accountability is distributed across captains, clubs, and the Committee.

6.1

Team Captains

Responsible for ensuring their players adhere to this Health & Safety Policy and are aware of emergency procedures and how to report injuries or safety concerns.

6.2

Clubs

Clubs entering the DPL are responsible for ensuring their players and officials are informed about this policy and that players are fit to participate.

6.3

League Committee

The DPL Committee will monitor the implementation of this policy and ensure safety measures are being upheld at all times. Any concerns or issues should be raised with the Committee, who will take appropriate action.

07

Conclusion

7.1

The safety of all involved in the Dublin Padel League is of paramount importance. All participants — from players to spectators — must take responsibility for maintaining a safe environment.

7.2

The DPL Committee is committed to reviewing and updating this policy regularly to ensure compliance with current regulations and best practices.
