1. GENERAL BEHAVIOUR

1.1 All participants must conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner, both on and off the court, and contribute to maintaining a positive atmosphere within the league.

1.2 Any form of abusive language or behaviour, including but not limited to shouting, swearing, or insulting remarks, will not be tolerated.

1.3 Players must respect the decisions of referees, officials, and other league representatives. If a player has an issue with a decision, they should raise the matter politely and in a timely manner, following the appropriate channels.

1.4 Players must respect their opponents and refrain from any behaviour intended to intimidate or distract them.

2. PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 Players are responsible for ensuring they are physically prepared for matches. Players should avoid participating if they are unwell or unable to perform due to injury.

2.2 Players must attend scheduled matches on time. If a player cannot attend, they must notify their team captain and the opposing team as early as possible.

2.3 Players must wear appropriate and recognised padel attire, including non-marking shoes, and maintain a high standard of personal hygiene.

2.4 Players should make every effort to compete fairly and with integrity. This includes abiding by the rules of the game and not attempting to manipulate the outcome of a match.

2.5 Players are expected to comply with all specific rules set out by the DPL Committee, including any regulations related to match conduct, court behaviour, and sportsmanship.

3. TEAM CAPTAINS' RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 Team captains are responsible for ensuring that all players under their guidance comply with this Code of Conduct.

3.2 Team captains must maintain good communication with both the DPL Committee and their players, ensuring that all relevant information is shared in a timely manner.

3.3 In the event of any disputes or conflicts between players or teams, the team captain should attempt to resolve the issue fairly and respectfully. If the matter cannot be resolved at the team level, the DPL Committee should be informed for further mediation.

3.4 Team captains are responsible for ensuring that the match score sheets are accurately filled out and submitted to the DPL Committee in the prescribed manner.

4. COURT ETIQUETTE

4.1 Players should respect the playing surface and facilities, ensuring that courts are used responsibly and left in good condition after each match.

4.2 Players should avoid unnecessary noise or distractions during play, particularly when the opposing team is serving or in a critical moment of the match.

4.3 Spectators are also expected to follow the same standards of respect and good conduct while present at matches.

5. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND NON-DISCRIMINATION

5.1 The Dublin Padel League is committed to creating an inclusive environment where players of all backgrounds and abilities are treated with respect and fairness.

5.2 Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion on the basis of gender, age, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic will not be tolerated.

5.3 Any reports of discriminatory or prejudicial behaviour should be raised with the DPL Committee immediately. All reports will be taken seriously and addressed promptly.

6. ENFORCEMENT OF THE CODE

6.1 Any player or team found to be in violation of this Code of Conduct may face disciplinary action, including but not limited to:

  • A warning or reprimand
  • Temporary or permanent suspension from the league
  • Points being deducted from the team's score
  • Expulsion from the competition

6.2 The severity of the action taken will depend on the nature of the violation and will be decided by the DPL Committee in consultation with the relevant parties.

6.3 In the event of a serious violation, the DPL Committee reserves the right to refer the matter to the appropriate authorities.

7. AMENDMENTS TO THE CODE OF CONDUCT

7.1 The Dublin Padel League reserves the right to amend this Code of Conduct as required to maintain the integrity of the league and to address emerging issues or concerns.

7.2 All participants will be notified of any changes to the Code of Conduct, and it will be their responsibility to ensure that they are aware of and comply with the updated version.

By participating in the Dublin Padel League, all players, team captains, and associated personnel acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
